Safe to bring to your district.
Security is built into every layer of Instructional Pulse, from sign-in to storage. Districts own their data, and Pulse runs beside your evaluation system, never instead of it.
Google sign-in only
Staff sign in with their district Google accounts. No separate Pulse password.
Walled off by district
Row-level security separates each district's data inside the database.
AI you control
AI stays off until a district admin turns it on. Names are replaced before anything is sent, and data never trains AI models.
Ready to sign
The California NDPA and New York Ed Law 2-d DPA. FERPA school-official terms built in.
How we protect district data
The controls, in plain English.
01 · Data protection
- Data is encrypted in transit (TLS, with HSTS) and at rest.
- Hosted in the United States with daily backups.
- Each district's data is separated by row-level security in the database.
- Uploaded files sit in private storage and open only through short-lived links.
02 · Access controls
- Sign-in through the district's Google school accounts; districts can limit allowed email domains.
- People are signed out after a period of inactivity the district sets (60 minutes by default).
- Role-based permissions decide who sees which schools and records.
- Support sign-ins require a reason, end after 60 minutes and are shown to district admins.
03 · Monitoring and audit
An append-only audit log records staff and role changes, deletions, exports, file opens, AI use and support sign-ins. District admins can search it at any time.
04 · Web protections
Pulse sends a content security policy, blocks framing on the published site and limits browser features like camera and location.
05 · Incident response
If we discover a breach affecting district data, we notify the district without undue delay and within the time required by law and the district agreement, and help with any required notices.
06 · Student information
Pulse is staff-facing and designed to keep student information out. Assessment results are class-level only, and notes boxes warn when text looks like a student name or ID.
Policies and agreements
A signed district agreement always takes priority.
